Since I had my MRI on Friday, I am now in wait mode again until I hear back from those results. I also have my second MRI on Monday on my ear/head to see what is going on there so it really won't be until the end of next week until I know about both areas. But, while I wait, my friend Jenn told me about Dr Simmons who is a breast surgeon turned functional medicine doctor. When Dr. Simmons was diagnosed with her own breast cancer, she began to look at the root cause of the cancer and it is her belief that until we figure out why the body could not naturally wrap its little Natural Killer Cell arms around the cancer and annihilate it, the cancer is still a symptom of a bigger problem that is continuing in the body. I'm going to have to do some deep digging here because I am VERY healthy but cutting out the alcohol, sugar and eating mostly plant-based is a huge change that I have made since having my biopsy that I hope will bring some lab work more in line. I had already been working to get my B12 and D vitamin levels up but I did have some cholesterol and some inflammation markers that were slightly elevated. I also had a slightly elevated insulin resistance. I have added the sauna multiple times a week to flush out toxins and I am finally drinking more water. And, I am taking all of the supplements recommended in Bill Henderson's book, Cancer Free. It's a start but definitely not the end. This weekend I will spend some time on the couch reading Dr. Simmons' book to learn more about what I can do to boost my own body's immune system to fight recurring cancer in my body.
Now on to the fun for today. Brian and I decorated our house for Christmas! It was a little early but I LOVE CHRISTMAS so we decided it was a good day to knock it out. I love having the lights and thinking of the kids and everyone being here for the holidays. I had bought a throw pillow last year at Ryan William's store, Artisan Designs. that says "All Hearts Come Home for Christmas" and it sits in my foyer every day as a reminder of the blessings of a holiday spent with family. I also went to the GT football game which was a disastrous performance but did allow me to spend time with our GT friends, my parents and the boys. Our GT friends were so sweet and each gave me the biggest hug and told me they were praying for me. I know they are. They are the best! It was also so good to see Jack at college- he is such a protector of me and has such a great love for me. His hugs are the best and I got several yesterday from this sweet one. Nathan and Caroline are doing well too. She is going to start a new job so she isn't working on weekends anymore which I know will be a blessing for their future marriage.
In the shower yesterday, I began humming a song. It took me a minute to remember what it was and then it came to me. The words are SO powerful and I am grateful the Lord put this into my mind as a reassurance that He has me in the hollow of His hand.
